Hobbies:
- Anything fun: golf, snow skiing, camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, and all sports.ย A good competition in anything is always fun to me.
What is something people donโt know about you?
- Ice hockey dominated my life through junior high and high school.ย I was usually on the ice 4-5 days a week.ย Loved playing that sport!
Favorite or dream vacation?
- Anywhere I can sit on a beach and relax, play golf or hike to some scenic landscape.
Milestone moment in career?
- Joining R&O Construction right out of college. I couldnโt have picked a better company to start a career with and have loved every position held as well as the awesome people I get to work with on a daily basis.
What is a typical weekend?
- Typical weekends include going to one of many of my kidโs sporting events and then trying to sneak in a round of golf, a few turns on the ski hill or hang out with the family.
Favorite TV show?
- Anything I watch with my wife once the kids are in bed and we have some free alone time.
Favorite song?
- I like all music, but usually find the dial tuned in to 70s and 80s stuff.
Favorite food or restaurant?
- Everything.ย Iโm the least picky person when it comes to food and I love all of it.
Favorite quote?
- โThe longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on lifeโฆ..The remarkable thing is we have the choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.ย We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.ย We cannot change the inevitable.ย The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, ant that is our attitude.ย I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.ย And so it is with you.ย We are in charge of our Attitude.โ โ Charles R. Swindoll
What projects are you working on right now (at home and/or work)?
- Iโm always working on lowering my handicap in golf.ย It is such a tedious endeavor, but hey, someone has to fall on that sword and it might as well be me.
First job?
- My first job was working for my dad in the residential construction market.ย I started cleaning job sites, shoveling snow, moving concrete blankets and compacting soil to back-fill foundation excavations.ย From there I learned how to do many of the construction trades under the training of my dad.ย As my first real โhad to interview for jobโ I did a short stint in high school as a rental tech at a ski shop (Alpine Sports) in Ogden.
Who is your hero?
- Definitely without a doubt my dad.ย He is the man that sacrificed his career and time to teach all of his boys how to do construction, oftentimes at the expense of his own.ย We worked hard together and played hard together as a family and we still play hard to this day.ย He taught me the value of good honest hard work as a punk teenager that had many other ideas of what work should be.ย Those lessons learned at a young age have proven invaluable as an employee throughout my life.ย There isnโt a day that goes by that I donโt reap some sort of benefit from the lessons he taught me as a child.
What are you reading right now?
- Iโm always reading a bunch of different things.ย The news, trade articles, economic forecasts, golf books or magazines, hunting articles, the occasional best seller or a recommended book from a friend and the scriptures are the ones that seem to occupy my reading habits the most.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
- In my career I see myself at R&O Construction doing business development and preconstruction services.ย I love my job and I love working for R&O.ย With that being said, my career at R&O has taken me down paths I would have never foreseen on my own so if something comes up in the future or a new need arises Iโm all game to give it a try.ย If I can support our guys in the field to do what they do on a daily basis Iโm all in.
