What does your company do? Our company is the largest Retail Real Estate Services provider in the US. Within that, our team, The National Net Lease Group provides advisory services for investors of single-tenant and multi-tenant investment properties across the U.S. This team of about 60 investment sale focused brokers sold 500+ properties worth 1.9+ Billion in 2020. We have set some of the lowest cap rate records for properties tenanted by retailers such as Wal-Mart, Starbucks, 7-11, Walgreens, Wawa, McDonald’s, etc.
What do you do for your company? I act as an investment sales broker nationally and lead capital markets based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
What are you working on right now? 80% of my time is working on investment sale transactions all around the country. I perpetually have about 8-10 deals or listings nationally closing, going under contract, or getting listed, they are mostly retail, some industrial and government tenants. About a year ago, I secured rights to franchise the Take 5 Oil Change concept of Driven Brands in Utah with my partner, Jared Whatcott. We are opening 10 stores with our first site slated to open in May 2021 in South Ogden, UT. I also invest in ground up projects with net lease developers around the country and plan to syndicate more of my own deals going forward.
Best career advice you’ve received? There’s a lot, but to pick something: 80% of your results come from 20% of the work you do, so focus on the 20%.
Best career advice you’ve given? Don’t be a bottleneck. Don’t ever let people be waiting for you to respond or do something. Be hyper responsive and don’t ever let time ever kill a deal.
What is one thing people don’t know about you? I send a lot of emails from the chairlift and live in Utah because the snowboarding is world class.
